Make noise@7pm / SHMA donates meals

April 20, 2020 12:19 PM | Anonymous

As we quarantine separately but together in community spirit, we thought SHMA members might want to participate in a socially-distancing community activity to show support for all healthcare workers and first responders, and especially our very own healthcare workers at Phelps Hospital.

To that end, the board invites families to join in #solidarity@7 on Monday evenings. You may have seen videos of New York City residents conducting this noisy appreciation. Step outside your home at 7pm on Monday nights to make noise in support of the brave healthcare workers and first responders as well as all of the essential workers bringing food and medicine to our doors or providing opportunities for us to go and shop for essential items. Any form of noisemaker is welcome: pots, pans, voices, hand clapping, music, singing, however you want to express yourselves.

At our meeting last week (Zoom board meeting.jpeg) the board decided that a second way SHMA can give back to Phelps Hospital essential workers is to use the funds budgeted for food at our annual party to feed a shift of hospital workers. (Originally scheduled for early May, this will not take place this year. We will find a different way to present our annual report to the membership at a later date.)
